watsonx Assistant is IBM's conversational AI platform, formerly branded Watson Assistant, for building chatbots and virtual assistants across web, voice, and messaging channels. It is a general-purpose product used across every industry IBM sells into, not something built specifically for IBM i shops.
Why it is on this directory anyway
IBM i shops evaluating AI adoption sometimes ask about conversational AI as a front end onto existing IBM i applications, for example an internal help-desk assistant that can answer questions using Db2 for i data. watsonx Assistant is a plausible building block for that kind of project, but it requires the same custom integration work any general-purpose platform would need to reach IBM i data. Treat watsonx Assistant as a general enterprise tool to evaluate on its own merits, not an IBM i-native product. Scope any IBM i integration work explicitly before committing to a project timeline.
