IBM i
IBM's operating system for Power servers running traditional AS/400-lineage business applications, with Db2 for i built directly into the OS.
IBM i is the current operating system in the AS/400 lineage, running on IBM Power hardware with Db2 for i integrated. It is not a synonym for the whole physical server: an IBM i partition can supply production data while a supported Linux partition or external service executes AI inference. In a hardware plan, record the production IBM i capacity and resilience reserve separately from the proposed AI runtime.
